Dan Shanoff Bio

Dan Shanoff began his career in online sports media in 1995, as a writer and editor for an AOL-backed start-up called “Real Fans Sports Network,” putting him at the front end of the fundamental shift in sports media and technology to value and promote the “fan’s perspective.”

Since then, he has worked for ESPN.com (twice); NFL.com (managing SuperBowl.com) and SI.com (then CNNSI.com). While earning his MBA from Harvard Business School, he created the idea that later became ESPN.com’s “Daily Quickie,” a column he filed every weekday morning for nearly 4 years.

He launched DanShanoff.com as a spin-off blog in September 2006 and continues to blog daily, in addition to writing a daily column for SportingNews.com and monitoring his Twitter account (@danshanoff) obsessively. He is founder of the Varsity Letters Reading Series, the first and only reading series in the nation dedicated to sportswriting.

Most recently, he was Vice President of Content for Associated Content, a leading online publisher.
