This morning, we were greeted in our inbox with a message from the site Polygon. Polygon is the latest vertical launched in the Vox Media franchise – a franchise that sprung from the SB Nation family. Under the Vox umbrella, SB Nation was joined almost exactly a year ago by the widely acclaimed tech site The Verge. With Polygon, Vox expands into gaming. While other blogging networks from Bleacher Report to Yardbarker to FanSided to Big Lead Sports have partnered with traditional offline media companies, SBN via Vox seems to be one that is continuing to create and expand its own, independent digital footprint.

The email message from Polygon:

A long time ago, on a landing page far, far away, you ignored everything your parents ever taught you and entered your email address into a form on the internet. While normally we would join your parents in frowning on this kind of behavior, this one time it seems to have worked out! You asked to be notified when Polygon.com — the new video game website from Vox Media — was live and well, friend … today’s that day.
