Pearlman Goes Jay and Silent Bob on Critics

At BwB 1.0, Jeff Pearlman was a great contrasting voice at the first show as a staunch defender of journalistic integrity and the traditional news industry.

In a post last week at CNN.com titled “Tracking down my online haters,” Pearlman does just what the title implies and tells about his findings.

Pearlman presents a strong and entertaining case study in the two-way nature of today’s sports reporting.  Behind @Aliases and anonymous blog posters are actual people with actual jobs, families, and *gasp* feelings.

It’s arguable whether new media has dragged journalism into the gutter.  But it’s safe to say that a bit of civility has never hurt anyone.

That said, Pearlman’s experiment does invoke a bit reality imitating art…
