THIS is the reason why a forum like Blogs With Balls is so important.

We’ve gotten nowhere. Where the hell is Braylon Edwards in all of this?

Wow does Ken Rosenthal come of as a jackass. He sounds like frightened old media dissmissing the future.

Too bad the blogger didn’t have a make-up guy (it’s like they set him up to look unprofessional) or someone to help him couch his arguement better.

Ken Rosenthal might think he’s qualified to teach a class on journalistic ethics and standards and practices, but I think his pedagogical strength would favor a seminar on condescension and patronizing.

How to miss the point, Ken. ‘We all speculate on players’ but no one should write about players who, like say Brady Anderson in 1996, have a season that displays power numbers that are stark outliers from career averages during an era defined by rampant PED use? I think that’s the job of a journalist–to look at the data and make an argument that tries to explain what happened. Given that players like Manny Ramirez are testing positive for masking agents, testosterone boosters, and other banned substances THIS year, the idea that the PED era is OVER is laughable. Therefore, the original post was fair and justifiable.

If the MSM would have done the proper legwork 10 years ago when the PED era was in full bloom, we would not be at this point. They were as complacent as MLB and became fans of the HR chase rather than be true investigative journalists.

Midwest man is within his rights to write about a topic that millions of fantasy baseball fans chat about every day. I am a Phillie’s fan in Philadelphia and everyone says jokes about it as we love the guy but no one expected this output. While the new stadium and being protected by Howard greatly helps his numbers, no one expected this output. While the media guys in the video hit the right points, the best part is Raul’s response. Who doesn’t say if they are innocent, they would comment like he did. Kudos for Raul for bringing the heat for his innocence. For if he is clean, he is acting like a clean man.

I found BwB via Fang’s Bites, so thanks in advance for opening the floor to this conversation.

I’m still a relative novice in both the blogger world and as a scribe (a weekly paper here in NYC), but much of my motivation to be involved in sports media was to understand how and why this battle is waged between the bloggers and the mainstream. I wonder because as Rosenthal assails at Midwest’s method, it’s not as if this phenomenon came about when bloggers entered the fray.

The quip about what is speculated among friends and actually printed/posted was rather odd considering that a good bit of what comes from the MSM is derived from those similar conversations, only that the MSM has press passes, access and a heightened sense of entitlement.
